G. Pomp. Cape. appears as IIvir iterum. The Reading CAPELL (Vives, IV, p. 56; GMI 545; NAH, p. 282; Numisma 162–4, p. 18) seems wrong.

On some coins, like 1626.19, 25 or 26, the bull wears clearly an isiac basileion between the horns. On this extremely interesting iconography, see R. Veymiers, "Le basileion, les reines et Actium", in L. Bricault & M.J. Versluys (eds.), Power, Politics and the Cults of Isis, Leiden 2014, p. 195-236 (esp. p. 195-6).

The reading of the rev. legend is not certain. But if it is accepted, this coin might provide the missing link with the coins signed by the proconsul M. Rutilus (3517) as a duovir with the name Feridius figures on both series. This would prove that the foundation of the Colonia Iulia Gemina indeed occurred in the Triumviral period, as stated by Grant, FITA 238.

In RPC II, p. 178, it was said that the fabric and die axis of this series suggested a Flavian or Trajanic date. It was not included in RPC III. The reverse design recalls Domitia’s reverses with kalathos or torches. It is therefore included here.

1-3: probably same pair of dies and probably rev. die as 2812/1-5. The editors of the SNG Schweiz II tentatively attributed these coins to Crete, which seems unlikely. A Cicilian mint is a possibility. It is not clear if the two different series were intended to pass for two different denominations, as one seems heavier and larger than the other. However, they seem to share a rev. die.
