Jerome Mairat (Active Director)

Jerome Mairat is Curator of Roman Coins at the Heberden Coin Room in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. His research focuses on the Roman coinage of the third century AD, both imperial and provincial. He is a joint author of Roman Imperial Coinage, volume V.2, AD 268–276 and of Roman Provincial Coinage, volume IX, AD 249–254 (London, Paris, 2016). He designed and developed the current version of RPC online. He is also a member of the Council of the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies, General Editor of Roman Provincial Coinage, and Director of RPC online.

Chris Howgego (Founding Director of RPC IV online)

Chris Howgego was the founding Director of Roman Provincial Coinage volume IV Online in 2005/6. He was Keeper of the Heberden Coin Room in the Ashmolean Museum, Professor of Greek and Roman Numismatics in the University of Oxford, Honorary Professor at the University of Warwick, and Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford. He acted as Research and Teaching Coordinator for the Ashmolean. He is the author of Ancient History from Coins, which is currently available in 6 languages. He is an editor of Roman Imperial Coinage and Roman Provincial Coinage. With Prof. Andrew Wilson he directs the Coin Hoards of the Roman Empire Project.

Volker Heuchert (Founding Director of RPC IV online)

Volker Heuchert is Curator of Greek and Roman Provincial coins at the Heberden Coin Room in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. He lectures on Greek Coinage and teaches undergraduate and graduate students. His research focuses on the Roman Provincial coinage of the Antonine Period – the time from the accession of Antoninus Pius to the death of Commodus (AD 138–192). He was one of the joint editors of Coinage and Identity in the Roman Provinces (Oxford, 2005).
