Note | Dated by vA to the "middle of 3rd century". The style of the representation of the river Hermos is quite similar to coins in RPC VII (285.1: https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/type/16728 and 285.2: https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/type/16729), but iIts weight (5.68 g) is lighter than coins of that denomination for VII.1 (6.68 g), indicating that it was issued after Gordian III. The weight is similar to the standard used for the Senate coins signed by Elpidephoros (5.85g), so the coins has very tentatively been assigned to the period of RPC X. |
