Note |
D786 is very worn (see rubbing in DS); the year is almost legible and was read as 13 by Dattari; the identity of the figures is not certain (D786 opted for ‘Imperatore?’ and Demeter; Christiansen, RCA p. 157, suggested Emperor and Alexandria; Emmett 477 has Emperor and Euthenia). The identities of the figures are clarified by the specimen in B, which shows that the seated figure has a naked torso and holds an uncertain object, perhaps a thunderbolt, and a sceptre; the other figure is female and holds a sceptre, while she crowns Zeus with a wreath. See 4701.
