Note | There is a very strange looking coin in Berlin (B-I, 27 mm, 14.21 g) with same obverse and similar reverse design, but accompanied by the legend ΕΦΕ ΝΕΙΚΗ ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟΥ: note the different form of E and the way that the abbreviated name of the city is incorporated in the inscription around the design, rather than being in the field, as usual. In addition Nike's raised hand is empty. It looks as if it has been very much altered, but it is hard to explain the large flan, unless perhaps it has been completely remade from something else. |
