Note |
The reading of the last name is not entirely certain; it was read in BMC as ΜΑΖΑΚΗΣ, in Seaby's Bulletin as ΝΑΣΣΑΣ, while Imhoof-Blumer thought that the (correct) reading ΜΑΖΑΣ was probably a mistake for [ΘΕΟ]ΝΑΤΑΣ. It does, however, remain uncertain whether or not there are two Ζs in the middle of the name: they seem clear on 2 and 8, but not on the other examples (although some of them have a sort of mark in the appropriate place, perhaps representing the remains of the letter, e.g., on a filled-in die). It is also possible that the second Ζ is actually a Ξ.
