Note The P coin was part of the Pellerin coll. and published by him in Recueil de médailles de rois qui n’ont point encore été publiées (Paris, 1762), pp. 35-6 and Pl. IV (under Cotys V); it was read as ΒΥΖΑΝΤΙΩΝ / ΕΠΙ ΜΑΤΡΟΔΟΡΟΥ ΠΡΟΞΕΝΟΥ. Another drawing figures in M. C. Lenormant, Trésor de numismatique et deglyptique. Numismatique des rois grecs (Paris, 1849), p. 48 and Pl. XXIII, 15. Though Lenormant followed Pellerin’s description, the drawing shows ΗΡΟΞΕΝΟΥ, not ΠΡΟΞΕΝΟΥ. F. Imhoof-Blumer, Bithynische Münzen, JIAN 1 (1898), p. 17, also misdescribed the coin, as did the authors of RPC. A closer examination confirms the reading ΗΡΟΞΕΝΟΥ, Heroxenos.
Correction Corrected coin-type (post publication)
