Grant identified the figures on the rev. as Livia with the twin sons ofDrusus (Germanicus and Tiberius gemellus, born in AD 19). TA wasinterpreted by H.A. Grueber as standing for Tria Assaria (NC 1904, p. 210, with an attribution to Asia Minor). Grant rightly rejected this and suggested instead 'Tiberi auctoritate' (parallel to his interpretation of C A as Caesaris Auctoritate) or 'Tutela Augusti' (FITA 110, RAI 42-3). Grant tentatively associated the coin with 5440-1; it also seems rather similar to Gaul (537-8), one of which was found near Trier. Could TA stand, despite the inversion, for Trevirorum Augusta?
