Note | BMC erroneously gives the reading ΣΕΒΑ[Σ]ΤΟΣ. The ligature is not certain, as the coin is badly preserved at the relevant point, but there does not seem to be enough room for all the letters to have been separately engraved. The authenticity of this coin has never been questioned. It does, however, have a slightly odd fabric (especially the rev.). But our hesitation is not sufficiently strong to regard it as false.
