Reference BMC 1176 ('Antoninus Pius') = BMC Suppl pl. 3 ('Antoninus Pius')
Diameter 14
Weight 2.16
Axis 12
Note Vogt, following BMC, also attributed the coin to Pius, but the similarity of the reverse to the other specimens cited here suggests that it too is a coin of Trajan, despite the appearance of the obverse.LI is not otherwise used for Pius: the date is spelled out in full, or abbreviated to L ΔƐΚ for AE 17. Of course, AE 12 might be an exception for reasons of space. If Pius this would also be the only AE 12 for this year, so a double exception.
