Note The type seems to be copied from an imperial denarius type celebrating the marriage of Marcus and Faustina II with the inscription CONCORDIAE: cf. Beckmann 2012, p. 36 fig. 2.17. There Marcus holds a scroll. That is probably what is intended here although the object held by Marcus on the tetradrachm looks a bit like a mappa. There may have been some confusion with the group of Antoninus Pius and Diva Faustina I (cf. Beckmann 2012, p. 35). The imperial type was catalogued in RIC III, 381 as Antoninus Pius and Diva Faustina I but the specimen illustrated by Beckmann clearly shows Marcus. The type at Alexandria also clearly depicts Marcus.
