The worn BMC 451 (‘LIE’) is probably the same design, perhaps the same year? D (D844) identifies the central figure as ‘Demeter ? … porta in testa luna bicorne e stella, veste chiton, tiene torcia’; Emmett 440 identifies the figure as ‘Demeter or Isis’; KG 27.199 identifies the figure as ‘Selene (?)’. It is female (and curiously small) on BMC 451 (‘Isis Pharia, wears usual headdress, holds columnar sceptre in r.’), and the crescent does suggest Selene. On coins of year 13, a bust of Selene (?) with crescent appears between the Dioscuri (D858, P1075= 4378); a crescent may also appear between the Dioscuri in year 17 (K638= 4789.3); but coins of year 11 have a figure wearing a kalathos, presumably Demeter, between the Dioscuri (DS Supp 49 = 4217.1). On balance, Selene seems most likely, at the moment.
